From the Superintendent’s Desk:
One of our challenges for this year is to evaluate our program and the educational needs of our children. As many have seen, school districts throughout our area have begun or are planning capital projects. This has been precipitated by some financial incentives through New York State. Most commonly, EXCEL (Expanding our Children’s Education and Learning) monies have been allocated to school districts to achieve some specific purposes and have allowed districts to accomplish a capital project with little or no local tax impact. While we have a beautiful campus at Genesee Valley, we are also entitled to some of this incentive money to address capital needs unable to be addressed during the last project. Included in this list is the need for increased parking, improving access to the facility, energy conservation and space allocation.
As this year progresses, I would encourage you to share with us your thoughts on priorities for this project by e-mail to: plmiller@gvcs.wnyric.org
Our goal is to have a public vote in June so that we can continue the process of addressing our capital needs while taking advantage of the financial incentives available to the district.
Thank you for your support of our district and its children.
