Situated
in the central portion of Allegany County,
the Genesee Valley Central School district
is named for its location in the beautiful
valley of the Genesee River. The community
of Belmont, which houses one of the district's
buildings and the central office, is the
county seat. Within a 30 mile radius of
the Angelica-Belmont region are Alfred
University, St.Bonaventure University,
Houghton College, and Alfred State (two-year
technological college). The Southern Tier
Expressway (Interstate 86) offers ready
access to Rochester and Buffalo. Outdoor
recreational activities abound at facilities
such as Rushford Lake, Allegany State
Park, Letchworth State Park, Kinzua Reservoir,
ski slopes at Swain and Holiday Valley
and numerous golf courses.
