8th Grade students studied the work of W. Kandinsky and how he used shape, color, and movement in his art so freely.
We drew a variety of shapes, and then several overlapping lines broke up those initial shapes, creating more interest and smaller sections. Some students worked with color families, separating spaces for warm or cool colors, while others integrated their colors, adding lines and creating beautiful patterns.

The project below illustrates many weeks of 8th grade work studying and practicing drawing shapes so they look as though they have three sides (three-dimensional). These forms all started with a single cube. Shapes were cut out of the cube and added on to the cube, but all of them had to look 3-D. This was a real challenge for most, but proved to be a great success for many!
