Lines are EVERYWHERE! Cityscapes: This year the first graders started with a piece of tagboard where they drew any type of line on it. They then proceeded to cut out the line and use that as a stencil. With the stencil, they used oil pastels and started to draw in lnes to create the city skyline. Then they were able to add lights to complete the picture! What started as:

Mosaics
Moving on from lines, First graders started to look at using shapes to create a picture. It is quite obvious what they were trying to create, they did a great job! The First graders used squares to create their trees. Most of them picked warm or cool colors for their leaves then used the rest of the colors for the background!
Oil Pastel Etchings First graders were able to draw using quite a bit of muscle colorful backgrounds. Then with the help of a scraping tool, they were able to add some lines and pictures. It was a fun project to see the results! Look close and you might see some of their handiwork!
Beautiful Masks!
