Fire Safety Rules
It seems like we just finished the Thanksgiving Holiday vacation and now we are nearing our next holiday season. As we all spend time with our friends, loved ones, and community please do not forget the Fire Safety rules! Please make your holiday safe and free from fire or accidents.
Here are some rules to remember to ensure a safe holiday/vacation:
Please continue to remember to keep candles away from curtains, clothing, other flammable objects, pets, Christmas trees and children. Blow out the candle when you leave the room.
Continue to place kerosene and space heaters 3 feet from anything that could catch fire. Turn off space heater when you leave the room.
Do not over load an outlet with many plugs. Use a safe extension cords/ cords with no frays or exposed wires. Do not over load extension cords when decorating for Christmas. Buy new extension cords or cords when they are damaged. Stay away from repairing them. Throw them away!
Keep your live Christmas trees well watered. Use tree lights with no frays and exposed wires. Please remember to turn off the tree lights when sleeping or when you are away from home.
Use lights or electrical decorations that have been already approved for outdoor decorating. Make sure the lights and electrical decoration are safe. They should have no exposed wires or frayed cords. Turn off the lights when you are not at home and when you are sleeping. Use safe extension cords that are approve for outdoors. Again do not over load the outlets with to many extension cords/cords.
Continue to monitor your chimneys and keep them free of debris and soot.
Be careful, use safe equipment when hanging decorations and have someone there to help you... Always drive safe and be responsible.
