Student of The Month:

Student(s) of the Month for Grades 5 & 6
On behalf of the fifth-grade teachers, Mrs. Fuller is pleased to nominate a group of 37 students as Students of the Month. When we began to consider students who exemplify the word “caring,” our character education word for the month, we immediately thought of this group of students. After viewing a video of children around the world who have needs much greater than their own, these students carried orange UNICEF boxes around as they trick-or-treated on Halloween and collected $336! This is the most money any group has collected since we began participating in UNICEF five years ago. Several students also very generously added their own money to the funds they had collected. It was obvious these students were moved by the plight of children in great need and their care and concern was evidenced by the effort put into this fund drive. Participating
students were treated to free ice cream by the Belmont Rotary Club, sponsors of the UNICEF drive. These students are worthy to be honored as our Students of the Month because they CARE and we are extremely proud of them!

Grade 7-8 Middle School
Student of the Month
GVCS Middle School has honored seventh-grader Sarah Bentley (shown BELOW) as the December Middle School Student of the Month. Sarah was nominated because she demonstrates qualities of our Character Word(s) of the Month - Caring.Ms. Bush wrote, “I would like to nominate Sarah Bentley because she is very caring toward the
other students in her class who don’t understand Spanish as quickly as she does.”Sarah is the daughter of Mr. & Mrs. William Bentley of Belmont.
